A Magoffin County man is sitting in jail, after police say he beat his mother.
Deputies were called to the home on Kel Patton Road, over reports that Brian Clay Perkins, 40, was assaulting his mother. Witnesses told officers that Perkins kicked in the door of his mother’s house and began beating her. The woman was able to get away from him and tried to lock herself in a van, but Perkins was able to get the door open and allegedly continued hitting his mother in the van.
Witnesses told police that a man attempted to stop the attack, but Perkins allegedly grabbed a logging chain and beat that man with it. Police were unable to locate the chain, but witnesses said Perkins threw it in the back of a neighbor’s truck, and that neighbor had left before police got there.
Perkins is now charged with first-degree assault for the chain attack, second-degree assault for the attack on his mother, first-degree burglary, and third-degree trespassing. He is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
