Thanks to a partnership with Facebook, voter registration had a significant increase over the weekend. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes reported Monday that 25,000 Kentuckians have registered to vote or updated their registration using GoVoteKY.com, with 4,700 being new registrants. Facebook users 19 and older received a reminder at the top of their Facebook newsfeed reminding them to register to vote in Kentucky. Samidh Chakrabarti, Facebook’s Product Manager for civic engagement, said reminding people to get registered through the social media platform was the natural next step. Grimes thanked Facebook for the partnership and recognizing the importance of voter registration before the October 11 deadline.
