Kentucky State Police Post 9, Pikeville, is investigating an assault that occurred on Monday, December 5. At approximately 3:54pm, Post 9 received a 911 call from a subject in the Greasy Creek community of Pike County, that an injured woman walked to her residence requesting help. Troopers arrived and determined the victim and James Thacker were traveling in the victim’s vehicle when Thacker assaulted the woman with a weapon. She exited the vehicle and Thacker drove away. The vehicle was located during a traffic stop and James Thacker, 38 of Elkhorn City, was arrested, charged with 1st degree assault and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
