University of Louisville Receives One Year Probation, Keeps Accreditation

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges placed the University of Louisville on one year probation Tuesday. The university will maintain its accreditation, but the abolishment and restructuring of the board of trustees By Governor Matt Bevin broke the rules of the SACS that requires universities be independent and free of external influence. In a statement on the action by the college accreditation group, Attorney General Andy Beshear urged the governor to rescind his executive order, dismiss his appeal, and not support legislation that would impact the university’s governance.
