Permanent repairs to the embankment failure require drilling railroad steel. It is expected that those repairs could start in the coming weeks, according to Bobby Smith, Knott County maintenance superintendent for Highway District 12. In the meantime, motorists are advised to slow down and stay alert at this site since vehicles will have to take turns.
