In our neck of the woods, I know we are all heavily familiar with a little insect known as a tick but here’s a little more information to get to prepped for those long summer days outside!
Ticks can transfer multiple diseases and infections but lets get acquainted with the the most common tick borne infection in the United States, LYME disease!! IT IS hard to detect, but scientists are taking a NEW APPROACH BY FOCUSING ON DIRECT IMMUNE RESPONSES THAT COULD HELP DIAGNOSE LYME QUICKER.
Here is something to know-
36 to 48 hours: The tick must attach long enough to transfer the bacteria into the person.
3 to 30 days: Bacteria spreads in the skin. Symptoms can begin to appear: fevers, chills, headache, uscle pain, joint pain and the notorias bull-eye rash forms
Days to weeks: Bacteria starts invading blood vessels, entering the circulatory system. Antibodies begin to form in reaction to the bacteria in an attempt to naturally fight the intruder
3 weeks and onward: The window during which the current test may pick up an infection.
Weeks to months: Bacteria multiply and spread into other tissues, potentially causing facial palsy, nerve pain or heart inflammation.
Months or years: An untreated infection can affect many parts of the body, including joints, the nervous system and skin.
