In Whitesburg H.O.M.E.S. Inc. is a non-profit organization that helps provide people with affordable housing.
Seth Long, Executive Director, wanted to cut the cost of energy bills that were rising and he wanted to find a way for the organization to save money.
So, H.O.M.E.S. Inc. recently installed solar panels on its roof, which has caused a significant reduction in its monthly bill.
Long said in June of 2018, the organization’s energy bill was roughly $1,400. After the solar panels were installed, the bill in June of 2019 was only $396.
After putting its savings toward the cost of installing the solar panels, the project is projected to pay for itself in nine and a half years.
