The once lost remains of a World War II soldier were finally returned home Thursday evening.
Ulis Steely was originally from Corbin and he joined the Navy when he was only 18-years-old. He died in the Pearl Harbor bombings when he was only 25-years-old.
It took 78 years and a team of military scientists to identify him. Those remains landed in Lexington earlier today.
They were escorted back to Corbin from the airport and around 7 pm, Steely, after 78 years, finally made it home.
