A man out of Pikeville was arrested after police say he beat and strangled his wife in front of their children.

Officers were called to perform a wellness check at the home of 35-year-old Samuel Anderson. Upon speaking to the couple, officers noted the wife’s black eye and bruises along her neck. After speaking to the wife in private, she revealed to police that Anderson held her down by the throat and proceeded to punch her several times. One of the children also informed officers they saw Anderson choke the woman.

Anderson is now facing a felony charge of strangulation, assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, and other charges.
