According to an article from WYMT, Officials say after receiving a call about shots being fired they went to the home of 67 year old Russel Patterson of Pineville. Officials say he looked as though he were hallucinating. Patterson claimed he had been inside watching his security system when he saw several individuals trying to break into his home and went outside to confront them firing shots. EMS was on the scene to treat his wound. Officials say Patterson was showing signs of agitation and paranoia. Patterson had accidentally shot himself in the leg when he fell.
