
It’s being reported that wildfires are still burning in Rockcastle County.
Firefighters who are combating the flames say the rain is helping put the fire out. However, there are some flames continuing to burn.
Crews are working to put out the existing wildfires in the county as there has not been any new ones.
Wildfires in the area have burned nearly 2,000 acres. Emergency crews have focused their attention on a fire in the Chestnut Ridge area called the Cut Gap fire.
although the fire is in a secluded and remote part of the Daniel Boone National Forest. two homes in the area have been evacuated.
