Shelby Homecoming Railroad Reunion Held in Pike County

In Pike County, many retired railroad workers gathered for the Shelby Homecoming Railroad Reunion, which also donates scholarships to children of railroad workers. The event has been going on for the last 22 years where pictures, train parts, and other articles are showcased while former workers spoke about experiences while working with the railroad company in Shelbiana. With the decline in the coal business, workers said the amount of cars seen on the tracks is a far cry from the boom of the 1970’s and ‘80’s. The Joyce Charles Clark Memorial Scholarship was given to four students at this year’s reunion.
