EKSC Awarded Grant to Purchase littleBits by KY Girls STEM Collaborative

Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s East Kentucky Science Center and Planetarium was recently awarded $1,000 through the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Mini-Grant Program to help bring littleBits to the EKSC. littleBits empower students to learn from an innovative invention based platform with color-coded electronic bits that snap together with magnets. The learning program has a special emphasis on electronics, engineering, technology, and physics. Susan Scott, instructional specialist at the EKSC, said “the materials purchased…will be used to engage more and more students in the coming years through the East Kentucky Science Center’s classroom and outreach programs.” littleBits will accompany the BeeBots, Cubelets, and Snap Circuits already available at the EKSC.
