On Saturday, December 10, Bell County emergency personnel responded to an ATV accident on Highway 987 near the Brownie’s Creek Community. Shannon Boatright, owner of the ATV, was discovered near the vehicle, saying she was attempting to load the 2016 Polaris Sportsman to take back to the dealer for a mechanical issue when the accelerator stuck and took off with her on it. The vehicle traveled 20 feet down an embankment, throwing Boatright from the vehicle. Bell County EMS transported Boatright to the Pineville Community Hospital where she was treated for a broken rib, torn shoulder, bruised sternum, and bruised left lung. Alcohol and drugs were not involved.
