Workers were adding the finishing touches to Archer Park’s annual Christmas light display Wednesday in preparation for Thanksgiving night.

With over a million Christmas lights, Prestonsburg mayor Les Stapleton says, It brightens up the whole area and those lights often guide in thousands of visitors.

“We had over 42,000 cars come through last year,” Stapleton said, adding that that number is high considering the floodwaters that created issues for the city last year.

He said he is excited to see the number of people who come to visit the family-friendly environment this year.

The lights display is open nightly, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Santa Claus is expected to be on-site every Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The carnival will be open every evening at 5pm until close of the park. Monday nights at the carnival are free to the public from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
