Kentucky’s governor is under fire for leaving after declaring a state of emergency

Governor Matt Bevin joined other Republican leaders at a ‘Town Hall Meeting’ in New Hampshire. Bevin was invited to be a guest speaker at the events luncheon, and traveled to his home state shortly after making the announcement on Friday. In a statement his office defends the move by saying that he didn’t leave until he was sure matters were well in hand, and that he used the visit to meet with companies interested in Kentucky. Bevin was not the only governor to receive criticism for attending the meeting. New Jersey governor and Presidential hopeful Chris Christie received national attention for attending the event as his state was pounded by the storm.
